New Gentle Yoga Face-to-Face Training Canberra
We are so excited to announce that our next Canberra training courses will be in the Gentle Yoga style!
Gentle Yoga is the newest course in our school, offering students the chance to learn to teach an accessible, inclusive, and easeful practice that includes mindful movement, supportive breathwork, and restorative rest – creating space for mobility, awareness, and self-care.
While our 50-Hour Gentle Yoga Online Course was only released earlier this year, it has been getting rave reviews from yoga teachers seeking more inclusive and adaptable ways to support their students. Now we are thrilled to be adding more in-person study hours and more study options.
I am so excited to be able to (finally!) share this as a blended face-to-face + online program with the help of Associate Trainer Sare Nuttridge in Canberra.
The in-person sessions will run over 15 sessions Sat & Sun from May to June, including 2 special elective workshops. You can register anytime and begin your self-paced online study, Gentle Yoga practice, and join us for virtual Group Coaching to stay connected and inspired.

What is Gentle Yoga?
Gentle Yoga describes a practice of movement, breathwork, and relaxation that emphasizes comfort, ease, and a slow, deliberate pace.
Rather than pushing toward a goal or peak pose, the intention is to cultivate awareness and support the body through easeful, mindful movement. Gentle Yoga is generally less technical and less alignment-driven than many other yoga forms. Students are encouraged to tune into sensation, breath, and energy, and to make choices that feel safe and appropriate for their bodies in each moment.
At its heart, Gentle Yoga is an invitational practice – one that prioritizes curiosity, compassion, and self-trust.
Benefits of Gentle Yoga
A regular Gentle Yoga practice can support:
- Mobilizing joints
- Improving flexibility
- Building gentle strength and stability
- Creating time and space for reflection
- Supporting nervous system regulation and rest
Accessibility and inclusivity are central to this approach. Props, variations, and modifications are not optional extras — they are integral tools that allow the practice to meet people where they are.
What does a Gentle Yoga class look like?
There is no single formula for a Gentle Yoga class.
Some classes may include 10–20 poses, first explored in a simple flowing sequence and then held for slightly longer periods. Others may focus on rhythmic, repetitive movements in a slow flow style. Some classes are very minimal, working with just 6–10 poses over a longer timeframe.
What unites these approaches is not the sequence itself, but the intention to move with care, awareness, and respect for individual experience.
