This beautiful and fragrant salt scrub is ideal for soothing overworked hands and feet, or as a full body scrub.  The salt scrubs away dirt, callouses and dead skin cells to rejuvenate the skin, the oil soothes, moisturizes and protects, and  the lavender oil promotes relaxation.  Make it for yourself, or give as a gift in a beautiful jar with a few extra lavender stalks tied on top.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
  • 1 cup fine sea salt
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 tbsp dried lavender blossoms

Preparations:

In a large bowl mix together salt and oil until the mix is moist enough to hold, but not overly oily.  Add extra oil or salt as needed.  Add essential oil and lavender blossoms and mix well, then place in a sealed jar.

To use, scoop out a small amount of scrub and gently massage into your skin, then wash off with soap and water.  Keep some by the sink for post-gardening cleansing, or by the bath for a delicious DIY spa.

Where to get supplies?  If you are making large batches, you can get pure almond oil from massage supply shops online.  Most health food stores and wellness centers stock lavender oil.  Jam jars make perfect containers, and you can use seashells, bamboo spoons, or salt-spoons for scooping out the scrub.

Note: for more sensitive skin, you can use sugar instead of salt as it is less stimulating to the skin.
